Zaffron.
This trendy Indian restaurant in Wheatley shares a modernistic blue and yellow decor (and probably more) with it's cousin Saffron in Summertown. We ate there on Saturday night with friends and had a most enjoyable evening, despite the food. It started quietly but quickly livened up and is clearly very popular locally. Service was slow. The starters were excellent but there was a certain sameness of colour and texture across the different main course dishes we chose. Memorable features were near-raw sliced onion in everything, and an overpowering sense that it had all been thrown together in rather a hurry with no chance for the the flavours to marry -- with a suspicion that any such marriage would not have been made in heaven.
